Wildlife
Survey and Permitting
ERC biologists are trained and experienced in conducting a variety of surveys for fauna and flora designated
as threatened, endangered, or species of special concern by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FFWCC)
and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). Habitat type, landscape features, and project location often determine the need
for a specific species survey, in addition to any known environmental information. The most common species specific wildlife
surveys conducted by ERC include bald eagle, Florida scrub jay, red-cockaded woodpecker, gopher tortoise, Big Cypress fox
squirrel, and seagrass. Other typical species addressed during the Environmental Resource Permit application process include
the American alligator, wood stork and other wading birds, indigo snake, manatee, sea turtle, and small toothed swordfish.
ERC performs all surveys in accordance with State and local guidelines.
